Well, we got a sneek peek around 16.5 weeks (2/16/10) and were able to see the little guy. It was so exciting. Matt and Mom were both able to go with me and I'm so glad to have shared it with both of them.
The little guy was very cooperative. We weren't sure if we were going to find out "for sure" being that it was still so early. As we entered the ultrasound room the tech asked if we were interested in determining the gender and shared that she'd try, but wasn't sure and that it would depend on the baby's cooperation. Well within about 15 seconds she was confident that we will be having a boy!
The ultrasound went great. Being that I'm the ripe "old" age of 34 and will be delivering shortly after my 35th birthday this ultrasound was a level 2 ultrasound to check for down's syndrome markers and the the baby's development was on track. We were very thankful that all looked well and there weren't any markers. It was amazing to see the chambers of the heart busy and working, that the bladder and kidneys were functioning properly.....and that when the tech pressed down on my belly the little guy kicked back! We're not sure if that comes from Matt or I!
Since discovering that Skittle....now is a boy this pregnancy has become so real. I realize knowing the gender does not matter nor does it "make" a pregnancy....but for some reason it's taken the reality that Matt and I have achieved our dream so very real! We both did not care if it was a boy or a girl, but boy do we love blue now!!! That and I think God knew it was best that my first child is a boy to curb/control my shopping habits.

Now....for the GOOD stuff!!
Okay, this is the real reason for this blog. Matt and I have followed a rather challenging road leading to the starting of a family. We both knew we wanted a child, hoping maybe for the plural down the road. But right now, we're focused on our single blessing right now and feel that we'll face the plural when it's the right time.
We are expecting a baby in July. It's funny because everyone asks when we're due and I usuallly respond with "end of July." Well, what's interesting is that often "end of July" is not enough. The reason I always respond that way is because how many babies are really due on their due date? I know some are, but what's the percentage?
So with that being said.....Skittle, as we affectionately refer to him/her as will be arriving "end of July!"

Intro to the World of Blogging
Well, I have been quite the blog stalker. I have a folder in my favorites and I visit many, many blogs on a weekly basis. Occasionally on a slow week I peruse these blogs 2-3 times a week.
Although, many times I've considered just posting and keeping it private. You know, just for me. But I knew eventually I would want a family blog and please, me keep up with two blogs!!!
So hopefully I will at least attempt to post something news-worthy once a week or a few times a month!!
